Nagercoil in Tamil means 'Temple of the Nagas'; it is located close to the southern tip of India, near Kanyakumari, between the Western Ghats and Arabian Sea. Nagercoil was once part of the Travancore Kingdom and then Kerala after India's independence, till it was merged with Tamil Nadu in 1956.
